From Felix Drott (coordinator) - We finally got a new forum after PlanetQuake decided to delete their cgi bin and screwed up the old one. For now, an ezboard is all I could come up with, I'm not a coder, and I don't really know how to set up a cgi script (and don't have the time to learn right now). I'm sorry for the inconvenience of having to register (don't worry, it's free) and log in, but I hope you will take your time to do it anyway. Happy posting.
In other news, Cure is back with us working on his excellent but as of yet untitled map, and it's looking pretty damn cool. It's good stuff I tell you, but I haven't really had a chance to play it for real yet - which brings me to another piece of news. My computer broke down a couple of weeks ago, so I haven't been able to work on my maps for that time. I have ordered a new one though (the old one isn't worth the cost of a repair), and if all goes as planned, I will pick up my sparkling new P4 tomorrow afternoon. It'll probably take a few days before I'm up and running again, but I pray that my old hard drive is unharmed - I won't know until I put it in the new pc.

TOPDOG has finished the Burning map, and I'm impressed with what he has accomplished in just a few weeks. Of course it doesn't compare to the best map of the TC, simply because we worked on those for years, but it's a good map, better than most user maps, and certainly an impressive feat to pull off in less than a month. I've asked him to fix a few things, and he says it'll be done in a few days. Man, I wish I could work as fast as this guy.
My own maps are proceeding nicely, but as always, I keep coming up with new ideas, even starting new maps to distract me from the ones I really should be working on. The train map for the third episode is nearly finished, and the Prospero Publishing map will have to be finished very soon, because I've run out of sectors, walls and sprites. The current size of the file is 533.419 bytes, making it the biggest map file of BloodLines with Hex's theater being a close runner up. The funny thing is that neither of the maps are anywhere near the physical size of the Airport map, they are just more detailed.
Somebody in the forum asked me for a release date. I hoped to get it done by Halloween, but right now that seems impossible. Maybe the maps will be done by then, but neither the cutscenes or the special features commentary can be finished in time.

After months of preparing for and taking exams, I'm finally back to map editing, and I feel very confident about my recent work. At one time, I just wanted this over and done with, releasing the unfinished TC as-is, but now with all the positive response, I want the final release to be much closer to what was originally intended. Headhunter and Reactor have finished the Airport map, which is, in my opinion, probably the most impressive Blood map of all time. Hex finished the Darkened Theatre, but is now adding extra features while waiting for the release of the addon. I myself am currently finishing Prospero Publishing, while adding two new minor maps to tie the third episode together.
So, when will this TC, that's been delayed just as long as Duke Nukem Forever, be released? I'm shooting for late July - early August.
However, I've made a promise to release the first three episodes, and enough promises about release dates have been broken through the years, so here it is, the beta-version of BloodLines. It's up to you wether you want to play it now, or wether you want to wait for the final release three weeks from now including the fourth episode, the cutscenes explaining the story, and possibly a map or two more in the 1st to 3rd episodes as well. Maybe some of you feel that playing an unfinished version will ruin the enjoyment of the final version, or maybe the additions in the final release will make you want to play the TC all over again. The choice is yours.
If you DO play the beta-version, feel free to speak your mind and, if you find any critical errors (such as strange player deaths or game crashes, we don't care about minor problems), report them in the forum. However, please add "SPOILER ALERT" in the topic field if you reveal information that may ruin other people's enjoyment of the TC.
Enough talk, go to the download page to find the beta-release of the BloodLines TC. But be warned, it is beta, and to some of us that is like watching Lord of the Rings on a 4th generation VHS-tape - it may not be how you want to experience BloodLines for the first time.

We have decided to release the first three episodes of the TC "as is", with some maps missing, and others patched up just enough to be playable (I've spent the last two days doing this to my Gallery and Shadowplay maps and am currently fixing up the Twilight Zone). A lot of unfinished maps will be released as "special feature" extra material, comparable to missing scenes and alternate cuts on DVDs, along with a commentary text. If all goes as planned, the release should happen by the end of next week.
The final, fourth, episode consists of a number of very ambitious maps, which would be a waste to leave unfinished. This includes the amazing Airport map, the Darkened Theatre and my own Prospero Publishing map. These maps are all close to being finished (if only because we have used so many sectors that little else can be added) and I'm now giving the mappers a deadline to get them done, so hopefully the fourth episode should be available for download around March 1st.

Until then, we will release the unfinished maps, letting you Blood fans out there get out your build editors and showing us how you think the maps should be. The best maps will be included in the TC along with the already finished maps.
Keep checking this spot for the release of these maps.
